Carrying more than 100 instruments in their collection, and performing music from up to 15 different countries, a performance with this seven-member ensemble is like taking a musical journey through Latin America. Mexico’s “Los Folkloristas” continue to preserve and record the traditional music of Mexico and Latin America.

Khaled Hosseini’s stunning debut novel, The Kite Runner, depicts the beauty and agony of modern-day Afghanistan and the improbable friendship between two boys on opposite ends of a war-ravaged society. The story sheds light on Afghanistan’s political and social turmoil through a story that touches on universal themes of personal responsibility, unconditional love, and redemption. This haunting one-man performance, presented on a bare stage, is a verbatim theatrical adaptation of key scenes in the novel. The Kite Runner is performed by Arian Moayed and adapted and directed by Wynn Handman as part of The American Place Theatre’s acclaimed Literature to Life® series. A question-and-answer session with the actor will follow the performance. The Kite Runner © 2003 by Khaled Hosseini. Published by The Berkley Publishing Group and used by permission of the author. |
